Royal Oak Woman's Club Meets

On Monday, January 9, 2012, the Royal Oak Woman's Club will hold its first meeting of the new year in their clubhouse at 404 S. Pleasant Street at Fourth, in Royal Oak.  Lunch will be served at noon followed by a program presented by Jeremy Mahrle entitled "What Your Congressman's Office Can Do For You".  He will discuss the wide variety of services provided the residents of the 12th District by Sandy Levin's office.  Mr. Mahrle has been with Congressman Sandy Levin for four years, the last three in his congressional office.  His current role is Outreach Coordinator for Oakland County, with additional focus on Veterans, Military, US Postal Service, Jewish and LGBT issues.  He is currently a Royal Oak resident, which is where he was born and raised and graduated from Dondero High School in 1999.  He is involved with a number of local non-profit organizations both in Royal Oak and the surrounding communities, most of which are Community Anti-Drug Coalitions and Youth Assistance programs.  This meeting is open to the public, but reservations should be made by Wednesday, January 4th, through the Membership Chairman Emily @248-762-6465. The Royal Oak Woman's Club is a service organization, which supports many local charities and provides scholarships to Royal Oak high school seniors pursuing an education in the medical field.  Since 1907 it has been a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC), which is a  unifying force, bringing together local women's clubs with members dedicated to strengthening their communities and enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service.  With 100,000 members in affiliated clubs in every state and more than a dozen countries, GFWC members are community leaders who work locally to create global change by supporting the arts, preserving natural resources, advancing education, promoting healthy lifestyles, encouraging civic involvement, and working toward world peace and understanding.  Membership is open to all women regardless of residency.
