Royal Oak-Based Nonprofit Receives funds to Continue Vegan Billboard Campaign

An anonymous donor announced they will match any donations to the VegMichigan billboard campaign. VegMichigan presently has six billboards placed in various locations throughout the Metro Detroit area. The campaign is designed to educate residents about the health and ethical reasons for going vegan.

VegMichigan, the state’s largest vegetarian/vegan organization, launched its first billboard campaign in 2012 in an attempt to educate Michigan locals about the various motivations for adopting a vegan diet. The billboards, which are installed in the Detroit area, feature real vegan role models including NBA champ John Salley, and cardiologist Dr. Joe Kahn, paired with statements advocating for the environmental, health, and animal-welfare impact of forgoing animal products. By using real people as the subjects of its campaign, VegMichigan demonstrate that veganism attracts people from various backgrounds and lifestyles—people who are as happy and healthy as their meat-and-dairy eating counterparts.

The fantastic news is that a donor has come forward and will match dollar-for-dollar with anyone who contributes to the VegMichigan Billboard Campaign. So if ever there was a time to give a donation for this worthy cause, it’s now! “Our food choices have a great impact on our health, the environment and the lives of animals.”  says VegMichigan president Paul Krause  “The billboards are another way to spread the message about the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle.” Any amount donated (no matter how small or large) will be doubled and the billboards will remain active, causing the plant-based lifestyle to be promoted all over the city.
