Royal Oak Family Shares Thank You Letters for 35 Years of Christmas Magic

The community rallies to say "thanks" to John and Ethlyn Unger, who announced they're are dimming the lights on their dazzling display on Dec. 31.

Merry Christmas, Royal Oak.

We thought an update on John and Ethlyn Unger would be appropriate on Christmas Day. Since the couple's announcement that this will be the last year for their amazing light display at 1713 N. Washington, the community has rallied with letters of support and thanks for the 35 years of holiday magic the family brought to Royal Oak.

When asked what he'll miss the most about the Christmas lights, grandson Jaden, 11, said, "Passing out candy canes to all the people that come to look."

Spoken like a true Unger.
