Explore the outdoors with the Royal Oak Nature Society in January.

January speaker programs

A Seasonal Guide to Michigan Mushrooms” is being held on Wednesday, Jna. 8  beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Royal Oak Middle School (709 N. Washington between 11 Mile Rd & Catalpa).  Phil Tedeschi is the President of the Michigan Mushroom Hunters Club.  His hobby for nearly 40 years has been mushroom hunting.  Come and learn from Phil's experiences in the hunt.  Find out what mushrooms we have here in Michigan, their identification and uses.

Using Fungi Guidebooks and Keys” is being held at the Royal Oak Senior Center (3500 Marais) on Wednesday, Jan. 15 beginning at 7 p.m.  This program is being presented by Mary Fredricks, Royal Oak Nature Society Mycologist.

January nature walks

"Winter Birds” is being held at Tenhave Woods on Saturday, Jan. 11 beginning at 2 p.m.  Park at the Lexington & Marais lot and meet at the Lexington entrance.

"Owl Hoot” is being held at Tenhave Woods on Friday, Jan. 31 beginning at 7:30 pm.  Park & meet at the Lexington & Marais lot..  The group will walk into Tenhave and attempt to lure in or have screech and great horned owls answer tape recordings of their calls.
