This article was written by Leslie Ellis.

Kevin Sherwood of Royal Oak, known as "Captain America" in running circles, was the winner of the second annual Run/Walk BOOM!!! 1-mile race in nearby Huntington Woods Saturday.

More than 350 people signed up in advance for the 1-mile and 5K races that serve as a fundraiser for the Huntington Woods' fireworks display over Rackham Golf Course, Run/Walk BOOM!!! event committee member Alex Cooper said.

The inaugural Run/Walk BOOM!!! event in 2012 raised more than $9,000 and attracted more than 400 participants and volunteers, according to the event committee.
