Royal Oak One of the Best Places in the U.S. for Single Moms

Royal Oak is the sixth-best place in the country for single moms, according to a new ranking from NerdWallet.com.

NerdWallet drilled down into U.S. Census data in cities with populations of more than 50,000 to put together its ranking, which is based on housing costs, median income, commute times and other factors important in single-parent households.

The data also included statistics from Kids Count, which shows there are 25 million children who are primarily cared for one parent.
