Weekend Planner: Benefits, Comedy and More

A roundup of weekend happenings in Royal Oak and surrounding areas.

1. Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Benefit Dinner

A dinner benefit from 4-9 p.m. on Thursday at will raise money and awareness for Great Strides and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Great Strides is a 5K walk/run event that the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation sponsors each May, which raises money for the genetic disease. Cystic fibrosis is not federally funded, so all of the research that has benefited and lengthened patients lives, has been privately funded by such events. Noodles & Company will give back 25 percent of each purchase made as long as patrons tell them they are there for the cystic fibrosis event.

2. Titanic - The Musical

Winner of five Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book, Titanic - The Musical is sure to be an emotional journey. It sets sail on the Main Stage at the   on Friday and is directed by Rodel Salazar. It will run April 13-15, 19-22, 26-29 and May 4-6, 2012. Tickets are $20. Click here for show times and tickets.

3. Craig Shoemaker at the 

Winner of ABC's "Comedian of the Year," Craig Shoemaker is best known for his relatable standup and his iconic baritone-voiced character. Showmaker's latest one-hour special, The Lovemaster...Unzipped, aired on Comedy Central and the CD was on the Billboard Top 20 for six straight weeks. Shoemaker's also been seen on Showtime, and VH-1. Shows on Friday and Saturday start at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. at ; tickets are $25.
