Calling all golfers ( and non golfers too)

This year's Christmas Classic Golf Outing will be on Sept. 7th

Perhaps the best reason to be a Royal Oak resident is being around some of the most friendly, caring, unselfish and generous people you will ever meet. Over the years I have had the pleasure to volunteer, meet and work with groups and organizations like The Optimist Club, The Boys and Girls Club, The Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club and all of the other service clubs and the individuals who make a difference in our community. When it comes to standing up and being counted we have always been there for the kids, the less fortunate and anyone who needs our help.

That brings me to the next big event on our charity calender this year. The 2O12 JESS PERRECA SR. MEMORIAL CHRISTMAS CLASSIC GOLF OUTING. This years event will be held on Friday September 7th at the Royal Oak Golf Club.

For those that don't know the "Christmas Classic" has been held for over 40 consecutive years and has been raising money to provide Christmas Baskets and packages for those families who are having a tough time. They also deliver special food and gift baskets to many senior citizens who may not have enough to enjoy the Holiday Season. All of the money collected from the golf outing is combined with numerous donations of clothing, toys and basic necessities to make the Holidays just a little brighter for our fellow citizens in this area.

A few years ago the event was named in memory of Jess Pareeca Sr. who was the original driving force behind the planning and organizing of the golf event and the gift basket distribution. We lost Jess to cancer but his spirit did not die. In recent years many of Jess's friends and family and others from the community have stepped up to fill the void and the program is more successful than ever. Special mention must go to Brett Tillander and the entire staff of the Boy's and Girls Club as well the Keystone Club, Matt and Tara Lovelace and too many others to mention but are very much appreciated.  Over 200 families and seniors will be served this year.

So please join us with a foursome or just by yourself (only $75 per golfer ) on Spetemebr 7th. Sign up soon because the slots fill up fast. If you are not a golfer we are looking for program sponsors as well. You can have a business card ad for $40 or a whole page for $100 and join us for dinner after the golf.
