Reid Beyerlein named Optimist of The Year

On Tuesday July 23 The Royal Oak Optimist Club held their annual Optimist picnic and awards dinner at Red Run Country Club.  Hosted by President Jay Dunstan, over 40 members and guests attended the event which was highlighted the Optimist of The Year Award. 

This year's winner is Reid Beyerlein who has provided outstanding leadership and service to the club and the community. Reid is currently Club Treasurer, a current Board Member and a Past President. Under his guidance the club has achieved financial growth and stability allowing them to support many community programs and organizations including the Boys & Girls Club and Optimist Park. Reid is a Financial Advisor with Raymond James Inc and is also active with the Royal Oak Chamber of Commerce and The Boys & Girls Club. The award was presented by last years OTY,  Al Pruner.

Other awards from the evening included:
Co-Rookies of The Year - Paula Messner and John Wagster
Special Friends of Optimists - Kathy Bremer, Cathy Pruner & Kim Kerbat

Sworn in as new Board Members were: 
Patty Brown, Eileen Harmon and Wagster who will also serve as Vice President.

The Royal Oak Optimist Club has been serving the community for over 60 years and with more than 50 members it is one of the most dynamic service clubs in Royal Oak. The members include community leaders, professionals, educators and business owners who actively support programs and services under their motto " Friends of Youth".  Besides their support for the Boys & Girls Club the Optimists also provide  programs like The Oratorical and Essay contests, Junior Golf, Tri-star Basketball and Youth Appreciation Awards.
