Mayor Jim Ellison FOR Proposal A: One Royal Oak Releases TV Ad

Today, One Royal Oak released a campaign commercial in support of Proposal A featuring Royal Oak Mayor Jim Ellison.  A copy of the ad can be found here.

“Let’s show Michigan that fairness is a Royal Oak family value.  On November 5, join me in voting for Proposal A,” said Mayor Jim Ellison.

Last March, the Royal Oak City Commission voted 6-1 to adopt a Human Rights Ordinance that would ban discriminatory practices in employment, housing, and public accommodation on the basis of actual or perceived race, national origin, religion, color, sex, age, height, weight, pregnancy condition, marital status, physical and mental limitations, source of income, family responsibilities, educational association, secual orientation, gender identity, and HIV status.

This is the second ad released by One Royal Oak, the campaign FOR Proposal A.  The original ad featured former Mayor of Royal Oak Pat Paruch.

Full text of the ad below:

“I’m Royal Oak Mayor Jim Ellison and I’m voting for Proposal A. Proposal A says all hardworking people should have the opportunity to provide for their families, including gay and transgender people.  Proposal A simply adds gay and transgender people to nondiscrimination protections that already exist in Royal Oak.  Let’s show Michigan that fairness is a Royal Oak family value.  On November 5, join me in voting for Proposal A.”
