Poll: What's Your All-Time Favorite Holiday Movie?

It's the time of the year for decorations, gifts and 24-hour marathons of "A Christmas Story." What will you be watching?

The holiday season is a time to pull out old favorite holiday films, and it seems everyone has an opinion when it comes to what makes a "great" holiday film.

Whether you haul out Home Alone, Elf, or Die Hard, or settle in for another watching of Miracle on 34th Street, there is always that one favorite film above all the rest.

There's the widely anticipated 24 straight hours of A Christmas Story on TBS, starting at 8 p.m. Christmas Eve. And It's a Wonderful Life, a mainstay of Christmas Eve for many families.

Looking for new ideas? You can check out the website Christmas Movie List.

Whatever your holiday viewing pleasure, share it here with other Patch readers.

I just watched that today (for the second time this month)! "Love, Actually" is a great film. And Hugh Grant's dance scene? The best!

I know I am aging myself but I like "come to the stable" with Loretta Young.

I voted Christmas Story, but right up there is National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation... and Rudolph.

Elf will always have a special place in my heart. Saw it on the first date I ever went on with my wife. I still love to watch it. Hilarious!

My votes are for "Meet in St. Louis" and "It's a Wonderful Life." I watch both year round :)

Sad to see that A Charlie Brown Christmas isn't on the list because it's definitely my favorite. The music from the movie has been my soundtrack to the holidays my entire life.

Nancy you are a kindred spirit. Esther is definitely one of my heroes.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Hilarious!

Classic - White Christmas. My sisters and I watch it every year and can break into song with "Sisters" at a moments notice!
Current - "Love, Actually". The music, the storyline, the actors, everything works! Funny- Scrooged. Bill Murray is a riot! Great take on a classic.

Polar Express. Best. Christmas. Movie. Ever. Add bonus that is was from a book written by a Michigan native. If you aren't tapping toes during the hot chocolate scene, then you have no pulse. Seriously. "Hot-hot-hot ... choc-o-lat"

The animated version is definitely my favorite. There aren't many movies Jim Carrey does in which he doesn't over-act and the new Grinch is no exception. I like him in a more serious role, but his Grinch is almost intolerable for me.

I have to go with Christmas Vacation as my all-time favorite, but A Christmas Story is a very close second. I have also always been fond of anything animated and one of my most beloved memories involves a claymation Christmas special that used to run on network television every season in which two dinosaurs debate the meaning of the word "wassail". I found it on DVD with my favorite claymation Easter and Halloween specials and now we watch it with my son every year!

"Scrooged" with Bill Murray is pretty good -- especially like when the Ghost of Christmas Present hits Murray with a toaster.

Two favorites, "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" and "White Christmas" with Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye
Trisha Lulu Ryan December 19, 2011 at 08:12 pm
The Nightmare Before Christmas. But, that's my favorite movie, period lol
Joe Scott December 21, 2011 at 03:20 pm
I love 'em all, especially "It's a Wonderful Life," "A Muppet Christmas Carol" and "A Christmas Story." But my absolute favorite is "A Charlie Brown Christmas." In fact, the Peanuts theme song always makes think of Christmas.
Rob Ray December 21, 2011 at 03:53 pm
Although all of the above are great favorites, the one that I always try to fit in the mix is "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" to break things up.

I took Michelle's couch to 5K class. It was awesome. More than 40 runners competed in their first 5KRead More race Sunday in Royal Oak. Woot!
