Royal Oak Meijer - Irresponsible Drug Deliver Policy

On September, 24, 2013, at approximately 11:00 a.m., a dark green 1998 Pontiac Montana with Michigan Plate G7953H was stolen from the Meijer’s Department Store parking lot located at 5150 Coolidge.

The driver of the vehicle was making a delivery of prescription drugs when the vehicle was stolen. The driver parked the vehicle in front of the southwest doors and left the vehicle unlocked with the engine running while he entered Meijer to make the delivery.

When he returned to the vehicle, he observed the delivery van pull away, exit the parking lot and head south on Coolidge.

The stolen vehicle contained up to $20,000.00 worth of prescription drugs, including Vicodin and animal tranquilizers, as well as payroll checks valued at over $30,000.00.

DOES IT SEEM CRAZY THAT MEIJER HAS ITS DANGEROUS DRUGS DELIVERED BY A GUY IN A 1998 CAR AND HE LEAVES IT RUNNING WITH DRUGS THAT WILL END UP IN OUR SCHOOLS? CAN THAT REALLY BE THEIR CORPORATE POLICY?
