snowplowing on RO streets

Royal Oak used to be alot better at plowing their side streets in a timely manner! What has happened....no overtime?......service is awful! Our tax dollars are being spent for what??

They are working as fast as they can. While we sat down to Christmas Eve Dinner, and while we spend the day with family and friends on Christmas day, the snow plow drivers left THEIR families and celebrations (wives, children, parents) to go out and plow our streets. Do people not realize that? A little reality and gratitude is needed.

I agree! Berkley and Clawson were done immediately. It is Tuesday afternoon and we have not been plowed yet.

Such a bunch of whiners you've become.

Berkley and Clawson are small cities in comparison to Royal Oak. Altogether Berkley and Clawson total 6 sq miles when combined. Guess how big Royal Oak is? Take a guess. Almost double that. It will take a little longer to clear away so much snow in our city than over there.

Karen, What has happened? You must not pay attention to the constant reductions in city personnel for the last 10+ years. Fewer people, fewer - older - vehicles, plus less temps equals slower response. They still did very well with huge amounts of snow and a much larger city.

Wish I could edit that lol

Shelly, I deleted your initial comment. Please try again but avoid using profanity. Thanks!

old vehicles? maybe you haven't seen the large white elephant of a plow truck with the silly red scribble on the doors.

Mark, I read all your comments.....but really we all realize them. No matter where you live, 5 days after a storm is not acceptable for having your streets plowed for the first time. I should have mentioned that when I first did "speak out." If it had been your street not plowed for 5 days, maybe you would have felt differently!!

Let's see. Storm ended early morning hours on Monday. So as of right now a little over 72 hours have passed since the storm ended. Doesn't seem like five days to me.

B Lans Well said. Seems you cannot stop the whining of some.
Karen M. Hoth January 09, 2014 at 05:23 PM
B Lans.....If you had read the original message plus the second one - common sense would have told you that the "speak out" was not for the current storm but storms in the past. I really think that enough has been said and we all should move on.
