Instead of buying large bags of multi-purpose compost, I buy Growbags. I use the compost from them in hanging baskets, in pots for flowers and for growing tomatoes and cucumbers. They are easier to manoeuvre and are generally cheaper per litre than the large bags.

My best and favorite gardening tip is to save all your eggs shells. When you have a dozen or so, pop them in the microwave for 15-20 seconds. When cool enough, put them in a zip lock bag and crush them up. Now, sprinkle the crushed shells around your vegatable garden as slugs and snails can not cross them or they will be cut and the calcium enrichs the soil!
