Alleged Royal Oak Car Thief Arraigned

A 24-year-old Bloomfield man is charged with unlawfully driving away an automobile.

A 24-year-old Bloomfield man was arrested and charged with stealing a car in Royal Oak on Jan. 30.

According to police, a man was preparing to leave Hookah Joes, at 734 S. Washington, at 2:37 a.m. and started his vehicle to warm it up. The unlocked vehicle was left running and he went back inside the business. When he checked on his vehicle a few minutes later, he observed a man driving his vehicle southbound on Washington.

William Lymperis, was arrested for the alleged theft shortly after the vehicle was stopped by a Royal Oak officer on northbound Woodward near Catalpa.

Lymperis was charged with unlawfully driving away an automobile. He was arraigned Jan. 31 in 44th District Court before Judge Derek Meinecke. His bond was set at $5,000. His next hearing date is scheduled for Feb. 14 at 9 a.m.
