Bullets Shot, Guns Confiscated at New Year's Eve Celebration

Bullets Shot, Guns Confiscated 


700 block of Hawthorne, Jan. 1, 12:07 a.m.: Royal Oak Officers responded to the area to investigate a report of several people shooting a rifle into the air in a backyard. Officers located fresh footprints in the snow in a backyard and located the individuals involved in a residence. Two of the subjects admitted to shooting several rounds from a shotgun in the air to celebrate the New Year.

Two shotguns and three long guns were confiscated from the residence. The Criminal Investigations Division is investigating the incident. No one was injured from the negligent discharge of the firearm.

25818 Woodward (Affordable Flowers), Dec. 31 – Jan. 1, 4 p.m. – 12:41 a.m.: Royal Oak Officers responded to a report of open rear door at the business. When officers arrived they observed the front door was damaged. Further investigation revealed someone broke out the glass on the front door, entered the building and exited through the rear door. The owner of the business responded to the scene and determined nothing was stolen.

 

Car stolen

 

2500 block of Woodward, Dec. 3 – Dec. 31, 7 p.m. – 12:30 a.m.: A man reported he parked his vehicle in the south parking lot of the apartment complex. When he returned to his vehicle he discovered someone stole it.

 

iPhones stolen 


1016 W. 11 Mile (Y.M.C.A.), Dec. 28, 1:11 p.m. – 1:55 p.m.:  A man reported he went to the Y.M.C.A. to use the facility. He locked his money and two iPhones in a locker. When he returned to the locker room he discovered someone removed his lock and stole his property. 

215 W. Fifth (Fifth Avenue), Dec. 28, 1 a.m.: A woman reported she was sitting at the bar on the second floor of the business. She placed her iPhone on the bar in front of her. She turned away for a few moments and someone stole her phone.

 

Items taken from cars


25352 Woodward (L.A. Fitness), Dec. 31, 1 p.m. – 2:15 p.m.:  A man reported he parked his car on the east side of the covered parking lot and entered the gym. When he returned, he discovered someone had broke out the rear window and stole a wallet, watch, wedding band, iPad, three laptop computers and an undisclosed amount of currency. 

3118 Greenfield (Prevailing Church), Jan. 1, 3 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.: A man reported he parked his vehicle in the parking lot. When he returned to his vehicle he discovered someone attempted to steal the in-dash navigation system from his red 2005 GMC Yukon.

 

Motel guest arrested

 

825 E. 11 Mile (Royal Motor Inn), Dec. 31, 6:18 a.m.: Royal Oak Officers conducted a motel check and located a tenant with several outstanding misdemeanor warrants. The person was arrested without incident.
