Driver Sought in Hit-Run Car Crash

Man who was driving blue Chrysler PT Cruiser ran a red light, crashed into Avenger at Woodward and I-696 and took off, Royal Oak Police say.

The Royal Oak Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run injury accident that happened early Wednesday morning at the I-696 service drive and Woodward Avenue.

According to police, the male driver of a blue Chrysler PT Cruiser was traveling northbound on Woodward, ran a red light and collided with a blue Dodge Avenger traveling westbound on the I-696 service drive/10 Mile Road.

The driver of the PT Cruiser fled the scene on foot, police said.

The passenger of the PT Cruiser and driver of the Dodge Avenger were transported to in Royal Oak and treated for injuries.

The accident and ensuing investigation, which drew a dozen or so vehicles from the police and fire departments, tied up morning rush hour traffic.
