UPDATE: Giant Sinkhole on 11 Mile Road Near Pleasant Further Complicating Traffic on Snowy Morning

Avoid 11 Mile Road near Pleasant, where a sinkhole is causing traffic snarls.

UPDATE, 11:40 a.m.: The sinkhole that nearly swallowed 11 Mile Road was caused by a water main break, according to Greg Rassel, director of DPS.

"We think it's where two connections came together," Rassel said.

The sidewalk and eastbound lanes near Pleasant Street remain closed for now. Rassel said he expects all lanes of 11 Mile to be open later this evening.
