The parents of a nine-year-old girl reported an attempted abduction near the intersection of Campbell and 12 Mile roads on Saturday, according to Madison Heights police.
Police said a white man driving a red pick-up truck attempted to kidnap the girl on Huntington Avenue, which is located one block north of 12 Mile Road and east of Campbell.
Royal Oak school officials sent parents an email regarding the incident Tuesday afternoon at the urging of the Royal Oak police. Police wanted to alert parents due to the incident's proximity to Keller Elementary School on Campbell Road, according to Sgt. Al Carter.
Police are asking residents to report any suspicious activity or similar incidents to the Madison Heights Police Department at 248-585-2100 or the Royal Oak Police Department at 248-246-3500.
