Every patrol car is now equipped with an automatic external defibrillator (AED). Having this lifesaving device on the road, closest to those who need it, will very likely help save lives.

The police department has a new Crime Analyst/Intelligence Officer. This position has been an invaluable addition to the Criminal Investigations Division.  Details are available on page 22 of this report.

The police department partnered with the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC). By providing an office in the Police Department for an MDOC Field Agent, we have fostered a close working relationship that has helped both agencies. This partnership has directly led to a reduction in the total number of parolees living in Royal Oak from 35 to eight in one year.

The Royal Oak Police Department will now offer an unlock service to our residents. This free service will be available to any resident who happens to lock their keys in their car.
