Teen with Butcher Knife Waits for Woman Inside Her Home

A 14-year-old with a history of criminal sexual conduct was arrested Sunday after the Royal Oak resident alerted police.

A teenaged boy entered a Royal Oak woman's home Sunday and apparently waited hours for her to return before fleeing when she spotted him in her bathroom and called police, Royal Oak Police reported.

Police say their investigation revealed the teen had been in the woman’s home in the 2000 block of West 14 Mile for a significant time. He had placed several of the woman’s photos on her bed and appeared to be waiting for her to return, according to police.

“He came out and told her he was kicked out of his parent’s house and noticed when she left for work and went into her house,” Royal Oak Interim Deputy Chief Gordon Young told The Daily Tribune.

Royal Oak officers were able to locate and arrest the young man. Police said they found a large butcher knife in the teen’s backpack that he had taken from woman’s home.

The teen was convicted for a similar crime last year in which he persuaded a woman to let him into her apartment to use her bathroom and then forcefully groped her, police said.
