Man Taken into Custody in Royal Oak After Trying to Use Rochester Man's Bank Account

Royal Oak Police arrest man after attempt to withdraw Rochester man's funds from credit union.

A man was taken into police custody in Royal Oak after reportedly trying to withdraw money from a Rochester man's bank account, according to Rochester Police.

According to the department, the Rochester man filed an identity theft report on Jan. 9 after being alerted on Jan. 2 that his Bank of America account had been accessed online. The man told police no money had been accessed in his accounts and his bank's fraud agent was able to track the incident back to San Francisco, CA.

According to police, the man later received a call from Michigan Schools and Government Credit Union in Royal Oak asking if he was at the bank trying to withdraw funds. He told the credit union he was not and Royal Oak Police were called to the financial institution. Police arrested the man attempting to take out the funds and charges of identity fraud and larceny are pending from Royal Oak Police, according to Rochester Police.
