Parole Absconder Arrested, Thieves Target Catalytic Converters and More

The following information was supplied by the Royal Oak Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Highlights from Royal Oak Police Department reports from the past week:

Home invasion

  • 400 block of N. Rembrandt, June 24: A man reported someone entered his unlocked residence and stole prescription medications and a cell phone.

Bikes taken from unlocked garage 

  • 1700 block of Sycamore, June 26: A woman reported someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole a wallet. The suspect also stole two Trek Mountain Bikes from the unlocked detached garage.

Cars stolen

  • 500 block of Orchard View, June 21: A man reported someone attempted to steal his Maroon 2006 Ford F-350 and stole a Sirius satellite radio from the vehicle.
  • 29500 Woodward (Orvis Retail), June 25: A man reported someone stole his Green 2004 Volvo XC 90. His iPhone 5 and Apple notebook were in the vehicle at the time of the theft.

License plates stolen

  • 700 block of Symes, June 22: A man reported someone stole the license plate from his 2008 Hummer H-3.
  • 3800 block of Edgeland, June 22: A man reported someone stole the license plate from his trailer.

Items taken from unlocked cars

  • 1500 block of Whitcomb, June 22: A woman reported someone stole a purse from her unlocked vehicle.
  • 4200 block of S. Crooks, June 24: A man reported someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole a Dell desktop computer, DVD’s, prescription medication and miscellaneous clothing.

Thieves target catalytic converters

  • 2500 block of Oliver, June 26: A woman reported someone stole the catalytic converter from her Maroon 2003 Oldsmobile Alero.
  • 3800 block of Durham , June 25: A man reported someone stole the catalytic converter from his 2004 Chevy Cavalier.
  • 3300 block of Garden, June 26: A woman reported someone stole the catalytic converter from her Gray 2004 Pontiac Grand Am. 
  • 2200 block of E. 11 Mile, June 26: A man reported someone stole the catalytic converter from his Green 2001 Chevrolet Express.

Cellphone, unattended wallet stolen

  • 1900 block of N. Campbell , June 21: A woman reported someone stole her cell phone.
  • Second and Main, June 26: A man reported someone stole his wallet he left unattended on a bench. 

Acts of vandalism

  • Fifth Street and Kayser, June 23: A woman reported someone dented the door panels and scratched the trunk lid of her vehicle.
  • 3601 W. 13 Mile ( William Beaumont Hospital ), June 22: A woman reported someone scratched her vehicle.
  • 800 block of N. Main (Dessis Boutique), June 22: A woman reported someone spray painted graffiti on a wall bordering the business parking lot.
  • 3800 block of Dukeshire, June 21: A man reported someone broke out the driver’s side window of his vehicle. 
  • Fourth Street and Laurel, June 26: A woman reported someone broke out the rear window of her vehicle.
  • 800 block of W. Fourth, June 26: A man reported someone broke out the rear windshield of his vehicle. 
  • 2300 block of Middlesex, June 25: A man reported someone damaged his driveway gate.

Parole absconder arrested

  • E. 11 Mile and Gainsborough, June 25: A Royal Oak Police Detective and a Michigan Department of Corrections Agent assigned to the City of Royal Oak were working together. They recognized a man walking in the area of E. 11 Mile and Gainsborough who had a warrant for his arrest for absconding from parole. The man was arrested for the warrant.
