UPDATE: Suspect in Royal Oak Stabbing Death Arrested in Clinton Township

Royal Oak police have 'person of interest' in custody. Witnesses say man gave himself up to officers Wednesday afternoon without a fight.

Update, 10:35 a.m. Thursday: Royal Oak police confirm the arrest of a "person of interest" in the .

Royal Oak detectives along with officers from the Clinton Township Police Department and the Detroit Violent Crimes Task Force, made the arrest at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Clinton Township, according to a statement from Royal Oak Police Lt. Thomas Goad released this morning. "The arrested person’s identity is being withheld at this time," the release states.

Wednesday night: CLINTON TOWNSHIP  – Royal Oak and Clinton Township police arrested a suspect Wednesday iof a Royal Oak woman, confirmed a Clinton Township Police lieutenant.

Clinton Township Police assisted in the arrest about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Metro Parkway and Groesbeck area of Clinton Township, confirmed Lt. Anthony Green of the Clinton Township police.

Neighbors in the Foxchase Townhouse complex north of Metro Parkway and west of Groesbeck said they witnessed the arrest of a slightly built, 20- to 35-year-old  man.

John Trupino of Clinton Township said his daughter came into his home about 5:30 p.m. shouting "Guns! Guns! Guns!" after driving down the street of the complex on her way home. When Trupino and his wife went outside, they said they saw the white man in handcuffs on the ground, in custody of the Clinton Township police.

The police waited for Royal Oak Police to arrive and take the suspect into custody, Trupino said.

The suspect was arrested in connection with the death of Ranae Ann Chupick, 41, whose body was found in her apartment on Rochester Road Monday night. Chupick died of multiple blunt and sharp-force injuries, an autopsy showed, according to Oakland County Medical examiner  Dr. Ljubisa J. Dragovic, who ruled the death a homicide.

Royal Oak Police would not comment or confirm the arrest or any other details of Wednesday's arrest, including if, when and where the suspect will be arraigned.
