Police Blotter: Cars, Bikes and other Items Stolen

The following arrest information was supplied by the Royal Oak Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Highlights of reports for Sept. 15-21:

Breaking and entering

  • 2900 block of Woodslee, Sept. 17: The complainant reported that an unknown suspect entered his condemned home and stole a laptop computer and a flat-screen television. The home was condemned after it caught fire during a storm in August.

Homes invaded

  • 1000 block of East Lincoln, Sept. 15: Several pieces of jewelry were reported stolen while the resident was out of town.
  • 4100 block of West 13 Mile, Sept. 15: A man reported that someone entered his apartment through a side window and stole several video games. A neighbor said she had observed a suspicious male in his late teens walking near the apartment during the afternoon.
  • 300 block of Park, Sept. 16: Someone broke the glass to the back door. It was unclear whether entry to the home was made. No property was missing. 

Cars stolen

  • 2530 Rochester, Sept. 19:  A woman reported her 1998 Plymouth Breeze was stolen sometime during the past month.
  • , 3601 W. 13 Mile, Sept. 19:  A 2002 Chrysler Sebring was reported stolen.

Larceny from automobile

  • 1300 block of Hoffman, Sept. 18: The in-dash GPS unit was reported stolen from a Jeep Cherokee.
  • 2300 E. Fourth St., Sept. 18: The in-dash GPS unit was reported stolen from a Jeep Commander. It appeared as if a wedge was used in the door to get the vehicle unlocked, the police report stated.
  • 4300 block of Delemere, Sept. 19: The complainant reported that an unknown suspect entered his secured business parking lot and broke into several of the work trucks.
  • 1800 block of Parmenter, Sept. 21: The complainant reported that someone entered one of his work trucks and stole a concrete saw. 

Other incidents

  • , 5150 Coolidge, Sept. 16: A woman reported she was approached by a heavy-set woman who asked her about different types of tea. When the complainant turned around, she noticed a man, whom she described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a thin build, walking away from her cart, according to the police report. The complainant realized later that the man had stolen an undisclosed amount of currency from her purse, the report said.
  • at Farnum and Alexander, Sept. 15: A green Trek mountain bike was reported stolen.
  • Fifth and Main streets, Sept. 16: Someone stole a silver Trek mountain bike that was locked to a bike rack.  
  • , 8400 10 Mile, Sept. 17: A woman reported that someone stole her iPhone.
  • , 1711 N. Main, Sept. 17: A customer used a counterfeit $20 bill at the store. 
  • 500 block of Curry, Sept. 20: A silver Trek mountain bike was reported stolen.
  • 2900 block of North Vermont, Sept. 21: The complainant reported the back window of his vehicle was smashed.

Arrest summary

The following 26 arrests were made during the period:

  • one driving while license suspended and reckless driving
  • two driving while license suspended
  • one driving while license suspended and misdemeanor warrant arrest
  • seven operating under the influence of alcohol
  • one operating under the influence of narcotics and leaving the scene of an accident
  • four misdemeanor warrant
  • four disorderly conduct
  • one possession of a fraudulent prescription and resisting arrest
  • one possession of marijuana and obstructing a police officer
  • one assault and battery
  • one check fraud
  • one prescription fraud and misdemeanor warrant
  • one domestic assault and carrying a concealed weapon
