Acquaintances Fight Over Slashed Tires

The following information was supplied by the Royal Oak Police Department. Arrests or charges do not indicate a conviction.

Thefts from unlocked cars dominated reports to the Royal Oak Police Department the week of Aug. 4-11.

Tires slashed, night fight on 13 Mile

3000 block of West 13 Mile Road, Aug. 10:  A man reported that someone slashed one of the tires on his car. He said he decided to sleep in the car for the night so he could repair the tire in the morning. He woke up during the night and noticed three acquaintances standing around his vehicle. He got out of the car and noticed a second tire had been slashed. The man confronted the group and they began fighting. He left the area and reported the incident later at the police station. 

Ferndale police find stolen motorcycle

12 Mile and Campbell roads, Aug. 10:  Royal Oak police officers attempted to stop a motorcycle that it was traveling more than 90 mph.  The driver refused to stop and fled the area. Ferndale officers later found the motorcycle abandoned in their city. The owner of the motorcycle was contacted and he filed a stolen motorcycle report.

Items stolen from cars

200 block of Marlin, Aug. 8:  A man reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicle and took an iPod, a checkbook and an undisclosed amount of money. 

200 block of North Minerva, Aug. 9:  A man reported that a pair of sunglasses, CDs and money were stolen from his unlocked vehicle.

100 block of Chippewa, Aug. 9:  A man reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole his wallet and iPod. 

300 block of Dewey, Aug. 9:  A man reported that a portable GPS was taken from his unlocked vehicle.

2400 block of West 13 Mile, Aug. 10:  A woman reported that someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole her identification and gym bag. 

3100 block of North Alexander, Aug. 10:  A man reported that work tools were stolen from his unlocked vehicle.

400 block of North Minerva, Aug. 8:  A woman reported that a pair of headphones were taken from her unlocked vehicle.

Fourth and Williams streets, Aug. 9:  A man reported that someone entered his vehicle through an open moon roof and stole his briefcase. 

Other incidents

William Beaumont Hospital, 3601 W. 13 Mile, Aug. 4:  A man reported that while working at a construction site, someone took a 14” cut-off saw from the back of his pickup truck. 

Amber Apartments, 1839 Crooks, Aug. 5: Someone reported that three male teens smashed glass in the front entry door of the complex. 

600 block of North Connecticut, Aug. 6: A man reported that he got into an argument with a friend of his ex-girlfriend. The man left the scene and when he returned, found the suspect had damaged the engine of his vehicle. 

Second and Center streets, Aug. 6:  A woman reported that while driving in the area, a man jumped on her vehicle's hood causing a large dent. He fled the scene. 

1300 block of Cherokee, Aug. 6: A woman reported her ex-fiancée came to her house banging on doors and windows while threatening  her.  Royal Oak officers arrived and arrested him on a charge of intimidation and attempted home invasion. 

Trader Joe’s, 27880 Woodward Ave., Aug. 7:  A man reported that a male was seen riding away on his black Trek mountain bike. 

Marathon gas station, 1621 E. 11 Mile, Aug. 7: An employee reported someone attempted to purchase items on a fraudulent business account. The employee refused to make the sale and the person left. The person then punched a gas pump, damaging it. Royal Oak officers arrived and arrested the person on a charge of malicious damage to property. 

1000 block of North Edgeworth, Aug. 8: A woman reported that a new Dell computer was delivered to her home. The woman stated she never purchased a computer and feared someone fraudulently used her identity. 

700 block of South Lafayette, Aug. 9: A woman reported that someone smashed her vehicle's windshield. 

12 Mile and Campbell roads, Aug. 9:  Royal Oak officers were notified by a Speedway clerk that someone who had fraudulently used a credit card the day before returned to the station. Officers arrived and arrested the suspect for possession of property that was stolen in two separate larcenies from automobiles. 

Genesis Church, 309 N. Main, Aug. 10:  The church reported that someone broke the glass in the rear doors.
