Police Blotter: Homes and Businesses Attacked, Car Stolen and More

The following information was supplied by the Royal Oak Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Highlights of reports for Oct. 7-12:

Breaking and Entering

  • Jax Mini-Mart, 27002 Woodward Ave., Oct. 9:  The store reported that someone smashed the front exterior door in an attempt to enter the building.  After smashing through the first set of doors, the suspect could not get past the second door and didn't enter the store. 
  • Capital and Squares, 32121 Woodward Ave., Suite 202, Oct. 10:  The business reported that someone pried open the office door and stole a laptop computer. 

Home Invasion

  • 1000 block of E. Lincoln, Oct. 8: A woman reported that someone broke the front window out and attempted to gain entry into her home. 
  • 3300 block of Harvard, Oct. 10:  A woman reported that a family member entered her home and stole a sewing machine and laptop computer while she was away. 
  • 4200 block of Elmwood, Oct. 12:  A woman reported that someone entered their home and stole medications and a purse. 

Attempted Motorcycle Theft

  • Main and Second streets, Oct. 7: Royal Oak officers responded to a man attempting to steal a motorcycle. Officers located the man and as they approached him he fled on foot. The man was apprehended and arrested for the attempted theft of the motorcycle.  Upon further investigation police discovered the man had attempted to steal a second motorcycle earlier that night. 

Car Stolen

  • 2700 block of W. 13 Mile, Oct. 12:  A man reported that someone stole his green 1999 Honda Civic. 

Items Stolen from Car

  • Second and Center streets, Oct. 9:  A woman reported that someone smashed the window of her vehicle and stole her purse. 

Other Incidents

  • I-75 and 11 Mile, Oct. 7: Royal Oak officers responded to a "be on the lookout" alert for a stolen vehicle. Royal Oak officers located and stopped the stolen vehicle and detained the suspect until Oakland County deputies arrived. 
  • 400 block of E. Fourth St., Oct. 6: A woman reported that someone stole her black and silver mountain bike. 
  • 25000 block of Woodward Avenue, Oct. 11: A woman reported that someone let the air out of her tires.
