Police Blotter: Indecent Exposure, Fight at Emagine

The following information was supplied by the Royal Oak Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Highlights from Royal Oak Police Department reports from the past week:

Indecent exposure

  • Main and Baldwin, Sept. 27:  Royal Oak officers responded to the area of Main and 11 Mile after receiving information that a man was walking in the area with a white shirt and no pants.  Royal Oak officers located the suspect near Main and Baldwin and discovered he was wearing only a white, waist length shirt.  The man was placed under arrest for indecent exposure. 

Fight at Emagine

  • Emagine Theatre, 200 N. Main, Sept. 22:  Royal Oak officers responded to Emagine Theatre after receiving reports of a fight involving several teens.  Upon arrival, the officers were unable to locate any victims of an assault and determined there had been a small altercation between two juveniles. 

Man finds gun in rental car

  • Royal Oak Police Station, 221 E. Third, Sept. 22:  A man came to the police station and reported he had rented a vehicle from Enterprise Rental in Detroit.  After driving the vehicle to Royal Oak, the man noticed there was a loaded firearm inside the vehicle wedged between the seats.  Royal Oak officers took custody of the firearm and are attempting to locate the owner. 

Home invasion

  • 2000 block of N. Campbell, Sept. 21:  A man reported someone entered his home through an unlocked side door and stole a laptop computer. 
  • 100 block of E. 13 Mile, 2-25:  A woman reported someone entered her home through an unlocked side door and stole her purse. 

Larceny

  • Kroger, 30991 Woodward Avenue, Sept. 20:  A woman reported someone stole a wallet from her purse while she was shopping. 
  • Speedway, 1720 Rochester, Sept. 23: Royal Oak officers arrested an employee at Speedway who stole an undisclosed amount of currency from a coworker’s wallet.  The employee was charged with Larceny in a Building. 
  • 3000 block of W. 13 Mile, Sept. 21:  A woman reported an acquaintance entered her apartment and stole a necklace and a pair of earrings. 

Car stolen

  • Radio Shack, 29132 Woodward Ave., Sept. 26:  Royal Oak officers observed a parked vehicle in the lot with heavy front-end damage.  The officers determined the vehicle had been stolen the day before in Canton.  The vehicle was impounded and turned over to the Canton Police Department. 

Items taken from cars

  • Center and 11 Mile, Sept. 20:  A woman reported someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole a laptop computer, jewelry, currency and other miscellaneous items. 
  • 1400 block of N. Altadena, Sept. 20:  A woman reported someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole a purse and portable GPS unit. 
  • 1400 block of N. Ferris, Sept. 20:  A man reported someone smashed the passenger side window of his vehicle and stole an undisclosed amount of currency. 
  • 1000 N. Alexander, Sept. 20:  A woman reported someone smashed the rear driver’s side window of her vehicle with a paver brick and stole her purse. 
  • 1000 block of N. Alexander, Sept. 20:  A woman reported someone smashed the passenger side window of her vehicle and stole a laptop computer and wallet. 
  • Jax Car Wash, 27054 Woodward Avenue, Sept. 24:  A man reported an employee stole a watch from his vehicle while it was being cleaned. 
  • LA Fitness, 25352 Woodward Avenue, Sept. 24:  A man reported someone entered his unlocked 2011 Chrysler Town and Country and stole the in-dash GPS unit. 
  • 1300 block of S. Main, Sept. 26:  A man reported someone stole all four tires from his 2012 Jeep Cherokee. 

Malicious Damage to Property

  • 1000 block of Irving, Sept. 20:  A man reported someone damaged his vehicle windows and the siding on his house with a BB gun.
  • 3400 block of Crooks, Sept. 23:  A woman reported someone broke the outer pane of her door wall with an unknown object. 
  • Smiling Dog Parlor, 4302 Rochester, Sept. 22:  A woman reported someone broke out the rear driver side window of her vehicle. 
  • Bright Ideas, 220 S. Main, Sept. 25:  The business reported someone spray painted graffiti on the rear wall of the business. 
  • 3100 block of Harvard, Sept. 25:  A woman reported someone attempted to pry open her car door causing damage to the handle and door jam.
