Police Blotter: Items Stolen from Cars, Homes

The following information was supplied by the Royal Oak Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Thefts and breaking and enterings dominated reports to the Royal Oak Police Department for this past week.

Homes invaded

  • 3000 block of Clawson, Nov. 25: A woman reported that someone forced open her front door and stole numerous pieces of jewelry. 
  • 4100 block of Edgar, Nov. 25: A woman reported that someone cut several window screens and pushed a window open. Nothing was missing from the home.
  • 1700 block of Cresthill, Nov. 28: A man reported that someone entered his house and stole a Wii game console and jewelry.

Car stolen, 2 others attempted

  • 2400 block of East Lincoln, Nov. 29: A woman reported that someone smashed the rear passenger window of her car and broke the steering column in an attempt to steal the vehicle.  
  • , 2000 E. 12 Mile, Nov. 29: A man reported that someone broke the lock and attempted to steal a 2001 Dodge from the lot. While exiting the parking lot with the stolen vehicle, the person drove into a parked car. The stolen vehicle became disabled and the person fled the area. 
  • 100 block of South Edgeworth, Nov. 29: A man reported that someone stole his 1989 Chevy from his driveway.  

Items stolen from cars

  • 32000 block of Woodward, Nov. 25: A woman reported that someone broke the front passenger window out of her vehicle and stole her purse and a laptop computer.
  • 200 block of Baldwin, Nov. 27: A woman reported that someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole clothing and some change. 
  • 700 block of Montrose, Dec. 1: A man reported that someone stole miscellaneous work equipment from his unlocked work van.

Other incidents

  • 1300 block of East Fourth, Nov. 25: A man reported that someone stole his bicycle from his front porch.  
  • Fifth and Center streets, Nov. 26: Royal Oak police officers responded to a call about a fight. During the investigation it was discovered that a man hit another man in the head with a hair dryer. The attacker was arrested on charges of felonious assault.  
  • 400 block of James Circle, Nov. 26: A man reported that someone entered his open garage and stole his bicycle.  
  • , 32515 Woodward, Nov. 26:  A woman reported that someone struck the side window of her vehicle and caused it to chip.
  • 2200 block of East 12 Mile Road, Nov. 27: A woman reported that someone slashed two tires on her vehicle.  
  • Coolidge and Massoit, Nov. 29: A female pedestrian crossing Coolidge Highway was struck by a vehicle traveling north on Coolidge. The pedestrian was transported to for treatment.  
  • , 1061 W. 11 Mile, Dec. 1: A woman reported that someone broke the window on her minivan. Nothing was missing or disturbed in the vehicle.
