Police Blotter: Items Stolen from Homes, Cars

The following information was supplied by the Royal Oak Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Thefts and breaking and enterings dominated reports to the Royal Oak Police Department for this past week.

Home Invasions

  • 2100 block of Vinsetta, Nov. 15: A woman reported that someone smashed out a rear window to the home and attempted to gain entry. 
  • 3200 block of Columbus, Nov. 16: A man reported that someone entered his unlocked side door and stole a television and laptop computer. 

Cars Stolen

  • 5000 block of Mansfield, Nov. 16:  A man reported that someone stole his silver 2000 Honda Civic. He reported loading the vehicle the night before with supplies and equipment for an out-of-town trip. 
  • Barton Towers, 333 N. Troy, Nov. 15: A woman reported that someone stole her 2000 maroon Dodge Intrepid. A neighbor reported that she observed three very tall males walking around in the lot. Officers located a stolen Dodge Intrepid from Shelby Township in the lot that was possibly used as a drop vehicle. 

Items taken from cars

  • 2400 block of Parmenter, Nov. 10: A man reported that someone entered both of his unlocked vehicles and stole a portable GPS unit from one vehicle and a credit card from the other. 
  • 900 block of N. Dorchester, Sept. 14: A man reported that someone entered his two unlocked vehicles inside his unsecured detached garage and stole two portable GPS units and an in-dash stereo. 
  • 4900 block of Cara Court, Nov. 15: A man reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole several credit cards and a pair of opera glasses. 
  • 3500 block of Elmhurst, Nov. 16: A woman reported that someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole several checks from her checkbook. 
  • 1400 block of N. Washington, Nov. 14: A woman reported that someone entered her vehicle and stole a laptop computer, portable GPS unit, sports equipment and sunglasses. 

Other Incidents

  • 3300 block of Springer, Nov. 13: Royal Oak officers were dispatched to investigate a dispute. Upon investigation, one of the home's occupants was found to be illegally in possession of a firearm. The person was arrested for a weapons offense. 
  • 400 block of N. Edgeworth, 4-12:  A woman reported that someone broke out the rear window of her Ford Escort. 
  • 900 block of N. Stephenson, Nov. 14: A woman reported that someone stole her laptop, microwave and a PC tablet. 
  • LA Fitness, 25352 Woodward Ave., Nov. 14: A woman reported that someone stole his light blue Fuji Cambridge vintage cruiser bicycle.
