Police Blotter: License Plates, Bikes, Money, Cars Stolen

The following arrest information was supplied by the Royal Oak Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Following are highlights of Royal Oak police reports for the week of Sept. 1-8:

Arts, Beats & Eats incidents

  • Sept. 3:  A woman reported that someone stole a banner from her tent sometime during the night.
  • Sept. 4: Someone opened a woman’s purse and took her camera. Officers discovered the person sitting behind her had taken her camera. The suspect was placed under arrest for larceny.
  • Sept. 5:  The complainant reported $3,305 worth of merchandise was stolen from her booth.
  • Sept. 5:  Two people reported their bicycles that were locked to the bike rack at Washington and Second Street were stolen.

Breaking and entering

  • 1400 block of Catalpa, Sept. 1:  Someone forced their way into a screened-in back porch and stole a hookah.
  • Bellocchio Upscale Resale, 25519 Woodward, Sept. 4:  The front window of the business was broken and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen.
  • 1100 block of South Lafayette, Sept. 4:  A person entered an unlocked screened-in porch and stole a bicycle.
  • 300 block of South Wilson, Sept. 5:  A lawnmower and two folding chairs were reported stolen from the garage.

Home invasion

  • 2100 block of Clawson, Sept. 3:  The complainant reported that someone entered her home and stole an undisclosed amount of cash. 

Vehicles stolen

  • 1300 block of Longfellow, Sept. 2:  The complainant reported his moped was stolen from the front of his home.  He later found the moped in Lawson Park.
  • 2400 block of Barrett, Sept. 5:  A blue 2007 Pontiac G6 was reported stolen from the driveway.

Larceny from vehicles

  • 30000 block of Woodward, Sept. 2: The complainant reported someone broke into his vehicle and stole a handgun from the center console.
  • 600 block of Park, Sept. 4:  A woman reported her purse was stolen from the front seat of her unlocked vehicle. 
  • 600 block of South Stephenson, Sept. 5:  A man reported his vehicle broken into and Garmin GPS unit stolen.
  • 2200 block of Baxter, Sept. 5:  A man said a camera was stolen from his unlocked vehicle.
  • 600 block of Helene, Sept. 5:  Two laptops were reported stolen from the trunk of a man’s unlocked vehicle.

License plates stolen

At least a half-dozen people reported their license plates were stolen while their cars were parked on the street on Sept. 1 and 2, including the 100 and 200 blocks of Crane, 700 and 800 blocks of North Washington and in the parking lot at 11 Mile Road and Main Street.

Other incidents

  • 4200 block of Rosewold, Sept. 2:  A woman reported that over the course of two days she placed 12 dresses on her front porch to be picked up for postal delivery.  The dresses were stolen both times. 
  • 500 block of Hilldale, Sept. 2:  A man reported that he was walking past a fenced-in yard when a dog approached the fence and began barking. The complainant reached through the fence to allow the dog to sniff him and was bitten by the dog.
  • Woody’s Diner, 208 W. Fifth, Sept. 3:  A woman reported her unattended purse was stolen.
  • 3400 block of Crooks, Sept. 6:  A white ornate planter was reported stolen from the front yard.
