Police Blotter: Numerous Home Invasions Reported

The following information was supplied by the Royal Oak Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Highlights from Royal Oak Police Departmentreports from the past week:

Home invasion

300 block of S. Laurel, Oct. 11:  A man reported someone kicked in his front door and stole an undisclosed amount of currency. 

1400 block of Marywood, Oct. 11:  A woman reported someone forced open her kitchen window and entered her home.  The person stacked up several items near the back door.  When homeowner arrived home, the person fled out the back door without the items.  The homeowner did not see the person.

2100 block of Parmenter, Oct. 15:  A woman reported she heard someone tapping on her window.  The woman then heard a window in another room begin to open.  The woman called out and the suspect fled the scene.  

1000 block of Iroquois, Oct. 13:  A woman reported two females approached her while outside raking leaves.  The suspects told the woman how much they loved the house and asked if they could look at it.  The woman declined, however, the two suspects walked into the home anyways.  One of them talked to the woman while the other walked around the home.  The suspects left a short time later. The woman noticed that an undisclosed amount of currency had been taken. The suspects are described as two females in their 20s.  The first suspect was approximately 5-feet 2-inches tall, heavy set, with collar length brown hair.  The second suspect was approximately 5-feet 6-inches tall, thin, with shoulder length brown hair.  The suspects may have been driving a white mid-sized sedan.

2000 block of N. Campbell, Oct. 15:  A woman reported someone entered her apartment and stole a laptop computer.  Officers did not locate any signs of forced entry. 

2000 block of N. Campbell, Oct. 16:  A woman reported someone entered her apartment and stole an undisclosed amount of currency and some CDs.  Officers did not locate any signs of forced entry. 

1100 block of N. Center, Oct. 15:  A man reported someone entered his apartment and stole a television, ring, cuff links, and an undisclosed amount of currency. 

2100 block of Linwood, Oct. 17:  A woman reported someone stole her grey Giant Cyrpess bicycle from her garage. 

1100 block of Sherman, Oct. 11:  A woman reported someone stole some undergarments from her apartment. 

Xbox, iPad, Jewelry and more stolen 

2800 block of W. 13 Mile, Oct. 14:  A man reported an acquaintance stole an Xbox, iPad, and a laptop computer from his apartment. 

2300 block of Dallas, Oct. 16:  A person reported someone has been stealing currency and jewelry from the house over the past month.  The person believes the suspect is an individual who frequents the home. 

Car stolen

100 bock of Lakeside, Oct. 11:  A man reported someone entered his detached garage and stole his 1996 green Toyota Camry. 

Purse, wallet, license plates and more taken from cars

900 block of Mayfield, Oct. 11:  A woman reported someone smashed the passenger side window of her vehicle and stole a purse, wallet and sunglasses.      

1000 block of Greenleaf, Oct. 11:  A man reported someone smashed the driver side window of his vehicle and stole a pack of cigarettes. 

1000 block of Catalpa, Oct. 11:  A woman reported someone threw a large landscape rock through the driver side window of her vehicle and stole a wallet. 

2100 block of Kalama, Oct. 12:  A woman reported someone stole the license plate from her vehicle. 

1900 block of Parmenter, Oct. 16:  A man reported someone stole the license plate from his 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. 

Tablet, laptop and more taken from unlocked cars 

1600 block of N. Main, Oct. 13:  A man reported someone stole a Verizon tablet from his unlocked vehicle.  

1000 block of Greenleaf, Oct. 16:  A woman reported someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole a laptop computer, jewelry and an undisclosed amount of currency. 

Malicious damage to property

700 block of W. 13 Mile, Oct. 12:  A man reported someone threw a large rock through his bedroom window while he was sleeping. 

300 block of S. Laurel, Oct. 11:  A woman reported someone smashed the sunroof on her vehicle with an unknown object. 

Najah Salon, 1831 N. Main, Oct. 11:  A woman reported someone smashed the glass on her front door.  The glass was still intact and no entry was gained to the business. 

600 block of N. Dorchester, Oct. 14:  A man reported someone ripped off his side mirror from his truck, smashed the windshield, and caused several dents and scratches to the truck.  

Oakland Community College Parking Garage, Lincoln and Center, Oct. 13:  Royal Oak officers located a damaged metal gate on the north side of the garage.  It appears as if someone drove his vehicle through the metal gate.  No injuries were reported and OCC police were notified. 

800 block of Edgewood, Oct. 13:  A man reported someone took the pumpkin from his front porch and threw it at his vehicle causing damage. 

2200 block of W. 14 Mile, Oct. 15:  A man reported seeing a younger male smash the taillights on two vehicles parked in the parking lot. 

Other Incidents

1900 block of N. Connecticut, Oct. 12:  A person, who is the caregiver for the homeowner, reported finding two women standing in the kitchen of the home.  One of the women was talking to the elderly resident while the other was observed walking around inside the home.  The caregiver confronted the two women and ordered them to leave the home. The suspects are described as two females in their 20s.  The first woman was described as heavy set, wearing a blue skirt and black shirt.  The second suspect was described as thin, with a ponytail, and wearing a blue sweater and skirt. The suspects left the area in a black Jeep Cherokee before anything was stolen.
