Police Blotter: Pit Bull Attack, Thefts and More

The following information was supplied by the Royal Oak Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Thefts and breaking and enterings dominate reports to the Royal Oak Police Department for this past week. 

Pit bull attacks dog

  • 900 block of North Stephenson, Oct. 28:  A resident of an apartment complex was outside with her small dog when her pet was attacked by pit bull. The pit bull also bit the dog's owner on her thumb when she tried to protect her dog. The resident who owned the pit bull was ticketed for the incident.

Breaking and Entering

  • 4100 block of 14 Mile, Oct. 28: A woman stated she checked her apartment storage area and discovered her custom vertical blinds, valued at $1,000, were gone. 
  • 1815 N. Main, , Nov. 2: Officers responded to a burglary alarm at Luna Bar. They checked the building and observed muddy footprints inside. The officers observed nothing out of place except for a bottle of Budweiser beer sitting on a table. Officers observed dirt on the floor below an exhaust fan in the ceiling. The exhaust fan appeared intact but officers could see that the electrical conduit appeared to have been cut. The officers located a man hiding on the roof and he was arrested. 
  • 1620 E. 12 Mile, , Nov. 3: Someone attempted to break into the gas station by breaking the glass door to the building. No entry was gained and the store video shows someone with dark clothes and white shoes driving a possibly newer gray van. 

Home Invaded

  • 3700 block of Kensington, Oct. 30: A woman said someone pried open her back door. She did not notice anything missing from her home. 

Trucks Stolen

  • 2900 block of Linwood, Oct. 28:  A man reported his 1991 Chevrolet Silverado pickup was stolen while parked on the street. 
  • 600 block of South Kenwood, Nov. 2:  A woman reported her 1994 Chevrolet Silverado pickup was stolen while parked on the street. 

Larceny from Automobile

  • 1800 block of Bellaire, Oct. 28:  A woman reported parking her 2006 Chevrolet Malibu vehicle for a couple of days and returned to find it on cinder blocks with all four wheels stolen 

Other Incidents

  • Sixth and Main streets, Oct. 27:  A man reported that someone keyed the passenger side of his vehicle.
  • 3000 W. 13 Mile, Oct. 29:  A resident of an apartment building reported a person sleeping in the basement of the complex. Officers advised the person on trespassing. 
  • 515 S. Washington, FIVE15, Nov. 2:  The owner of discovered someone had attempted to steal his air conditioning unit by cutting the Freon lines. The suspect was unsuccessful but caused $2,500 dollars in damage.
