Police Blotter: Police Shoot Pit Bulls Attacking Small Dog

The following information was supplied by the Royal Oak Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Police shoot pit bulls

600 block of Amelia, Dec. 13:  Royal Oak officers responded to a report of two pit bulls attacking a smaller dog.   Upon arrival to the scene the officer found the pit bulls were viciously attacking a smaller dog.  A lone Royal Oak officer shot both of the pit bulls.  The owner of the pit bulls was issued several ordinance violations.  The dog that was attacked did not survive. 

Home invasion 

1500 block of Ottawa, Dec. 13:  A woman reported someone kicked in the front door of her home and stole three televisions and several Christmas presents from under her tree. 

1000 block of N. Blair, Dec. 15:  Complainants reported someone had stolen both of their vehicles; Blue 2010 VW Jetta and a Black 2012 Chevy Cruze.  Investigation revealed the suspect entered the unlocked home and stole the keys to both vehicles.  Both vehicles were recovered within 24 hours.

1100 block of Ferris, Dec. 17:  Complainants reported they had just rented the home and were in the process of moving in.  Someone had entered the home and stole the mail. 

1000 block of Stephenson Hwy, Dec. 18: A person reported someone smashed the kitchen window, entered the home and stole a laptop, jewelry and a handgun.

3600 block of Parkway, Dec. 19:  A person reported someone entered the unlocked garage and stole several power tools. 

3900 block of Amherst, Dec. 19:  A person reported someone had entered the unlocked side door to the garage and stole a snow blower, power tools, yard equipment and a portable radio. 

Breaking and entering

Advance America Check Cashing, 828 E. Eleven Mile Road, Dec. 14:  A person reported someone broke into the business overnight and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.

Cars stolen

1300 block of Hoffman, Dec. 15:  A man reported someone stole his blue 2009 Ford pickup truck. 

2300 block of Guthrie, Dec. 15:  Complainants reported someone stole their gray 2011 Ford Fusion from the driveway.  The vehicle was located a few blocks away up on blocks with all four wheels and tires missing.

Larceny

800 block of Catalpa, Dec. 14:  A man reported his laptop has been missing from the residence since Dec. 5.

600 block of E. Third, Dec. 15:  A man reported three people stole a lighted Snowman Christmas decoration from his yard. 

Fifth Avenue Bar, 215 W. Fifth, Dec. 15: A man reported someone stole his Apple iPhone.  

1100 block of Mayfield, Dec. 18:  A person reported someone had stolen a white and red bicycle in November. 

YMCA, 1016 W. Eleven Mile Road, Dec. 19: A person reported someone had stolen a ring from a locker on Dec. 5.  

LA Fitness, 25852 Woodward Avenue, Dec. 19: A man reported someone stole his clothes and keys from an unlocked locker. 

Laptops, Christmas cards, iPhone taken from cars

Lindell Ice Arena, 1403 Lexington, Dec. 14: A man reported someone stole his laptop from his vehicle on Dec. 12. 

2400 block of Ardmore, Dec. 16:  Complainants reported someone stole the license plate from their vehicle while it was parked on the street. 

1200 block of Lawndale, Dec. 18:  Complainants reported someone had entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the driveway.  The suspect rummaged through the vehicle and stole Christmas Cards. 

1100 block of Mayfield, Dec. 18:  Complainants reported someone entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the driveway.  The suspect rummaged through the vehicle and stole a pack of cigarettes.  

900 block of Woodcrest, Dec. 18:  Complainants reported someone smashed a window on their vehicle while it was parked on the street and stole an Apple iPhone.  

500 block of Mount Vernon, Dec. 19:  A man reported someone had stolen the tailgate off his pickup truck while it was parked in the driveway. 

400 block of Mount Vernon, Dec. 19:  A man reported someone had stolen the tailgate off his pickup truck while it was parked in the driveway. 

Malicious damage to property

400 block of N. Wilson, Dec. 13:  A person reported someone damaged the door handle on the vehicle. 

600 block of W. Fourth, Dec. 15:  A man reported a friend had broken a window to the apartment when he was refused entry. 

300 block of E. Third, Dec. 16:  A woman reported someone damaged her vehicle on Dec. 13, while it was parked on the street.  

2600 block of Ardmore, Dec. 17:  A man reported someone damaged the Christmas decorations, which were displayed on his front lawn. 

Stephenson & Gardenia, Dec. 18:  A person reported a male suspect was spray painting graffiti on the sound barrier wall for the freeway.  Officers responded and arrested the suspect.
