Police Blotter: Purses Stolen in Auto Break-Ins at LA Fitness and More

Highlights from Royal Oak Police Department reports, Feb. 16-23:

Purses taken from cars at LA Fitness

A series of auto break-ins at , 25352 Woodward Ave., resulted in stolen purses Monday.

  • Feb. 20: A woman reported someone broke the passenger window and stole her purse, which contained cash and credit cards.
  • Feb. 20: Someone broke the driver’s window and stole a purse, which contained credit cards.
  • Feb. 20: Passenger window broken and stolen purse, which contained a cell phone, credit cards and passport.
  • Feb. 20: A woman reported that someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole a laptop and cell phone.
  • Feb. 22: A woman reported that someone broke the passenger window and stole her purse, which contained credit cards.

Home invaded

  • 3023 W. 13 Mile, Feb. 16: A man reported someone kicked in his front door and stole several DVDs from his bedroom.

Stolen Checks

  • 600 block of S. Pleasant, Feb. 17: A man alleged he saw his roommate stealing checks from his personal safe. The roommate was arrested for larceny and found to have drug paraphernalia and narcotics in her possession.
  • 1000 block of Irving, Feb. 20: A man reported someone stole checks from his bedroom.

Cars Stolen

  • 1000 block of N. Campbell, Feb. 16: A woman reported someone stole her 2000 silver Dodge Intrepid.
  • Royal Auto Sales, 829 N. Main, Feb. 16: A suspect took a beige 2001 Lincoln for a test drive and failed to return the vehicle.

Items taken from cars

  • 700 block of N. Vermont, Feb. 18:
  • A man reported someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole a GPS unit, iPod, briefcase and change.
  • Lindell Ice Arena, 1405 Lexington, Feb. 18: A woman reported someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole her cell phone, wallet, currency, and some clothing.

Other incidents

  • Leo’s Coney Island, 110 S. Main, Feb. 17: A man failed to pay his bill and fled on foot. Officers located the suspect leaving the area in a vehicle. The suspect paid his bill and was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
  • 13 Mile and Hillside, Feb. 18: An officer investigated two subjects acting suspicious. One of the subjects was found in possession of heroin and arrested.
  • I-75 and 11 Mile, Feb. 18: An officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit was initiated. Royal Oak officers deployed a tire deflation device to flatten the suspect vehicles tires. The driver was arrested for flee and elude, resisting arrest and misdemeanor warrants.
  • Guthrie and Helene, Feb. 23: Royal Oak officers responded to a traffic accident in which the man hit several small trees, garbage cans and a street sign. The officers located the man’s vehicle unoccupied on the front lawn of a house. Officers located the man a few blocks away and arrested him for operating while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.
