Police Blotter: Shrine Runner Hit by Car During Team Run

The following information was supplied by the Royal Oak Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Highlights from Royal Oak Police Department reports from the past week:

Shrine runner struck by vehicle

Dukeshire and Chester, Oct. 29:  Royal Oak officers responded to investigate a pedestrian hit by a vehicle.  Upon arrival the officers determined that the Shrine High School cross country team had been running on the street when a verbal altercation occurred with the driver of a vehicle.  During the altercation, the driver of the vehicle pulled onto the grass and struck one of the runners and fled the scene.  Officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle nearby and arrested the driver for Felonious Assault with a Motor Vehicle.  There were no injuries as a result of this incident.   

Home invasion

1500 block of W. 13 Mile, Oct. 28:  A woman reported someone entered her home through a side window and stole two LCD televisions, gaming system, DVD player, laptop computer, and an undisclosed amount of currency.

400 block of Englewood, Oct. 29:  A man reported someone entered his home through an unsecured side window and stole a 55-inch television.  A neighbor reported seeing a silver colored pickup leave the area around the time of the crime.        

3900 block of W. 13 Mile, Oct. 29:  The complainant reported someone entered the home through an unsecured window located on the front of the house and stole two televisions, a gaming system, a laptop computer and jewelry.

Breaking and entering

2000 block of N. Kenwood, Oct. 27: A woman reported someone entered her unsecured garage and stole lawn furniture, power tools, skateboards, and camping equipment.   

Golf clubs, prescription meds, tires and more taken

1100 block of N. Blair, Oct. 25:  A woman reported someone stole the golf clubs out of her golf bag.  She had left the clubs outside her house.  A neighbor reported seeing a male in his 20s, driving an older white van, take the clubs.   

1000 block of Irving, Oct. 27:  A woman reported someone stole her Detroit Tigers flag and pole from her front porch.   

LA Fitness, 25352 Woodward Ave., Oct. 27:  A man reported someone stole a cellphone from his gym bag.   

2600 block of Galpin, Oct. 27:  A woman reported her sister stole her prescription medication and an undisclosed amount of currency.    

Royal Oak Ford, 27550 Woodward Ave., Oct. 27:  Royal Oak officers responded to a report of two people stealing old tires from Royal Oak Ford.  Upon arrival, the officers located the suspects and determined they had taken several tires from a used tire pile.  They were arrested for larceny.   

300 block of E. 13 Mile, Oct. 29:  A woman reported someone stole an undisclosed amount of currency and jewelry from her home.  She believes the suspect is someone who frequents the house.  The theft occurred sometime over the past few months.   

LA Fitness, 25352 Woodward Ave., Oct. 30:  A man reported someone stole a cell phone from his gym bag.   

Motorcycle stolen

Main and Third, Oct. 25:  A man reported someone stole his black 2008 Honda CBR 1000RR motorcycle.   

Items taken from cars 

2100 block of N. Wilson, Oct. 26:  A man reported someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole her iPad.   

100 block of E. Houstonia, Oct. 29:  A man reported someone smashed the rear window of his vehicle and stole a chainsaw and log splitter.   

1000 block of Irving, Oct. 31:  A man reported someone stole several tools from his unsecured pick-up truck.   

Malicious damage to property

Main North Lofts, 350 N. Main, Oct. 31:  A man reported someone spray-painted graffiti on a rear wall and door.   

Peeping Tom

2100 block of Lincoln, Oct. 28: A man reported he went into his backyard and observed a male, standing on a chair, looking into a roommate’s window.  When the man saw him, he fled on foot.
