Police Blotter: Suspects Chased Down, Vehicles Break-Ins and More

The following arrest and police report information was supplied by the Royal Oak Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Royal Oak Police and Berkley Public Safety officers worked together on a couple of incidents last week:

K-9 unit tracks Berkley suspect in Royal Oak

On June 1, the Berkley Police Department requested the assistance of Royal Oak officers in apprehending a suspect that had fled on foot from a traffic stop.  The Royal Oak K-9 tracked the suspect to a backyard on Northwood in Royal Oak. The suspect was arrested and turned over to Berkley officers.

Suspicious man arrested after running from Royal Oak into Berkley

On June 2, a complainant reported seeing a suspicious looking man in the area walking into backyards. The first responding police officer observed the suspicious male near a backyard. The officer approached the subject and began to question him.  The suspect was confrontational and his demeanor was very concerning to the officer.  As a second officer arrived to assist, the suspect fled on foot. A foot pursuit ensued and the subject fled across Woodward Avenue into Berkley. Berkley Public Safety was notified and caught the suspect on Catalpa west of Woodward Avenue. The suspect was found to be in possession of a bandana, a pair of gloves and a duffel bag. He was arrested on a charge of obstructing police and misdemeanor warrants.

900 block of Mohawk, 5-27-11:  The complainant reported that an unknown suspect broke into his house and stole a 21 inch television.

Camera stolen at workplace

David Pressley School, 1100 block of South Washington, May 27:  The complainant reported that an unknown suspect stole his digital camera from his work area.

Cops find 8 ½  inch knife in speeding driver’s car

Crooks and Hickory, May 21:  A Royal Oak Police officer stopped a vehicle for speeding and found the driver of the vehicle to be intoxicated. The subject was arrested on a charge of operating while intoxicated.  During the impounding of the driver’s vehicle, officers found an 8 ½ inch knife under the driver’s seat.  The driver was then charged with concealed weapon violation.

Bike stolen from porch

1100 block of North Alexander, May 28:  The complainant reported his bicycle was stolen from his front porch

Store windows broken

The Accessories Shop, 500 block of South Washington, May 29:  The complainant reported two unknown males broke the front window to his store. 

Car vandalized

3000 block of North Main, May 30:  The complainant reported that someone smashed the rear window of his car and flattened one of his tires.  

Garage breaking and enterings

  • 600 block of North Main, May 27:  The complainant reported that someone broke into her garage and stole a rotor tiller and two lawnmowers. 
  • 1200 block of South Lafayette, May 27:  The complainant reported that someone  broke into his garage and stole several copper sculptures.

Larceny from autos

  • 2700 block of Woodward Avenue, May 27:  The complainant reported that two unknown suspects broke the driver’s side window of his vehicle and attempted to get in.  The suspects were confronted by the complainant and fled the area on foot. 
  • 200 block of South Vermont, May 28:  The complainant reported that an unknown suspect entered her unlocked vehicle and stole her identification and an undisclosed amount of currency.  
  • 900 block of Hoffman, May 28:  The complainant reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole his wallet and an undisclosed amount of money.
  • 4300 block on Coolidge, June 1:  The complainant reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole his iPod and an undisclosed amount of money.
  • 4400 block of Coolidge, June 1:  The complainant reported that an unknown suspect entered her unlocked vehicle and stole her portable GPS unit.   11-1920
  • 1600 block of Bauman, June 1:  The complainant reported that an unknown suspect entered her vehicle and stole her camera.
