Police Blotter: Thieves Target Homes, Vehicles

Highlights from Royal Oak Police Department reports from the past week:

Home invasion

400 block of E. Seventh, Jan. 11: A person reported someone entered a garage and stole a 22-inch Huffy Mountain Bicycle.

Items taken

31717 Woodward (Uncle Ed’s Oil Shop), Jan. 4: A man reported someone entered an office and stole currency from his wallet.

30332 Woodward (Olga’s Kitchen), Jan. 12: A woman reported someone stole currency from her wallet.

4100 block of Yorba Linda, Jan. 5: A woman reported an employee contracted to clean her home stole a pair of diamond earrings.

Car stolen

1815 N. Main (Luna Bar), 0Jan. 14: A woman reported an acquaintance took her keys and drove away in her vehicle without permission. The vehicle was later returned to the owner.

Items taken from cars 

2000 block of N. Main, Jan. 11: A woman reported someone stole the catalytic converter off her 2002 Pontiac Grand Am.

2700 block of Woodward, Jan. 14: A man reported someone broke out the passenger side window of his Chrysler minivan and stole the in-dash GPS navigation unit.

3500 W. 13 Mile (Shrine High School Parking Lot), Jan. 16: A woman reported someone stole the in-dash GPS navigation unit out of her 2013 Chrysler Town and Country minivan.

Malicious damage to property

1900 block of N. Main, Jan. 13: A woman reported someone pushed over a landscape statue in the front of her residence damaging the statue.

Fifth St. and Center, Jan. 12: Royal Oak officers observed a subject exit a party bus, expose himself and begin urinating on the bus door. When the officers approached the man he fled back into the bus. He was arrested for urinating in public and transported to the police department. During transport the suspect intentionally damaged the window and bent the doorframe.

3601 W. 13 Mile (William Beaumont Hospital), Jan. 12: A man reported someone smashed out his rear windshield.

600 block of S. Center (Urbane Apartments), Jan. 10: Someone broke out the third floor apartment door wall window with an unknown object.

W. Hudson and Farnum, Jan. 11: A woman reported someone dented the passenger side of her vehicle with an unknown object.

2700 block of Crooks, Jan. 14: A man reported someone slashed all four tires of his vehicle.

Other incidents

1000 block of N. Main, Jan. 15: Royal Oak officers responded to investigate an intoxicated man entering vehicles in the parking lot of a business attempting to use his keys to start the vehicles. The subject was located and arrested for public intoxication.

111 W. 12 Mile (City Motel), Jan. 17: Royal Oak officers located a person at the motel with an outstanding felony warrant. The person was arrested without incident.
