Police Release Photo of Royal Oak Bank Robber

The Royal Oak Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a man who robbed a Main Street bank on Jan. 15.

Royal Oak police released a photo of a suspect who robbed the Charter One Bank at 200 S. Main St. earlier this week.

On Tuesday, the man in the photo entered the bank, armed with a handgun and demanded money from the teller, according to a police statement. He fled on foot after receiving the cash.

The suspect is described as a male, between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 11 inches. He was wearing a black winter hat, black ski mask, a black winter jacket, tight fitting stretch pants and athletic shoes.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Royal Oak Police at 248-246-3500.

This is the second burglary in Royal Oak in the past month. The suspect in the photo also matches the description of the individual who robbed the PNC Bank at 225 S. Main on Dec. 26.

You want to trap an armed criminal in the establishment with innocent folks like customers and employees?

See full detailed report here:
http://www.ci.royal-oak.mi.us/portal/webfm_send/2268 3rd armed robbery in 3 months - all on Main in Downtown. We should set up surveylance cameras at all entry points to the city and downtown.

In this instance we chose not to use the description on the press release because, per our policy, it likely would not aid in the capture of the suspect. He was wearing clothing that covers his face, so the race description may not be accurate. We aim to have solid description that includes two or three unchangeable characteristics of the person before we state race.

If you're going to report the police report, than you ought to report the police report.

The perp is obviously black or Arab. Shame on the banks security guard. Anytime somebody walks into the branch dressed like suspect, the guard should have his hand on his gun.

there are bullit proof vestibles that enclose a subject & contains them-not accessible to anyone once locked within. sorry for any confusion.

no funding/ but we sure can find $$$ for extra security at Dream Cruise,ABE,etc.! while other cities use video cameras openly we seem to still be in the dark ages.

I took Michelle's couch to 5K class. It was awesome. More than 40 runners competed in their first 5KRead More race Sunday in Royal Oak. Woot!
