Report: Federal Agent Arrested with .37 Blood Alcohol Level in Royal Oak

The woman was cited for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest at Pronto! before being taken to a hospital, according to a WXYZ report.

A federal agent was arrested Friday night in Royal Oak with a blood alcohol level more than four times the legal limit, according to a WXYZ report.

Witnesses said the woman was clearly belligerent as she was leaving in downtown Royal Oak, the report says, and she was stopped by Royal Oak Police as she moved toward her car. The woman reportedly fled police and locked herself in a bathroom but was eventually arrested, interim police chief Corrigan O'Donohue told 7 Action News.

O'Donohue was not available to comment Sunday.

"The state law has been amended to allow a community like Royal Oak to prosecute high BAC violations as a local ordinance violation," City Attorney David Gillam said at the city commission meeting.

Prosecution under local ordinance simplifies the process and allows the majority of the fines to stay in Royal Oak, Gillam said.
