Resisting Arrest, Stolen Drugs and Unwanted Art

Here is a rundown of recent crime reports from the Royal Oak Police Department.

Highlights from Royal Oak Police reports through Friday:

  • A complainant reported to police at 8 p.m. Thursday that an individual identifying himself as a Royal Oak police officer wanted to return two Pokémon cases, without a receipt, at on Main Street. According to police, “The suspect said the items were initially purchased by the Royal Oak Police Department to give to people who aid in underage sting operations.” After the suspect was given a full refund, the store manager realized the returned Pokémon cases were actually stolen from the store. He also learned the man was not a Royal Oak police officer.
  • At 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, a resident living in the 29000 block of Woodward told police that an unknown person kicked in the front door of his house and stole two Sony DVD players, a Sony PlayStation, two wristwatches, a bottle of rum and an undisclosed amount of money. At 3 p.m. the next day, someone living in the 800 block of Stephenson told police that an unknown person pried open the rear door of his house, ransacked it and spray-painted some furniture. The man said three TVs, a coat and jewelry were stolen.
  • A complainant reported to police at 10 a.m. Thursday that an unknown person entered his residence in the 100 block of Maxwell and stole a bottle of prescription medication. According to police, there was no sign of forced entry.
  • At 5 p.m. March 17, a complainant reported to police that an unknown suspect stole his 2009 Red Ford Fusion parked in the 600 block of South Washington.
  • At 3 p.m. Sunday, police were called to investigate a report that an unknown suspect had broken into a clothing collection box in the parking lot of , 209 E. 12 Mile Rd., and had stolen an undetermined amount of clothes.
  • Two locker thefts were reported Tuesday to police. The first incident took place at 3 p.m. when a complainant said that an unknown person had stolen his ID, debit card and an undisclosed amount of money from his locker at the , 1016 W. 11 Mile Rd. There was no sign of forced entry. At 8:15 p.m., a complainant reported that an unknown suspect stole her ID and credit cards from her locked locker at , 25352 Woodward Ave.
  • A complainant reported Monday that as he entered the alley behind a business located in the 200 block of West Sixth Street at about 4:15 p.m., he heard what he thought was the sound of a spray-paint can being used. He then saw a male putting a spray-paint can into his coat and noticed black paint on his fingers. According to police, there was fresh graffiti on the wall of the building at 209 W. Sixth St. According to police, there was another suspect standing next to the man with paint on his fingers. Both men ran away. The first suspect was described as 18 to 20 years old, about 6 feet tall with a medium build, wearing a puffy, dark-colored winter coat, a blue University of Michigan baseball cap with a yellow M, eyeglasses and a goatee. The second suspect was described as a man wearing a gray ski cap. On March 19, another complainant reported that an unknown person had spray-painted the side of the building at 1325 E. 11 Mile Rd.
  • An unknown person stole a metal bench from the property of , 709 S. Washington, at about 5 p.m. March 17. The black bench is 2 foot high by 6 foot long.
  • At 2 p.m. March 18, police were notified that an unknown person had stolen a woman’s purse from , 1203 S. Main St. The purse was in an area near the office.
  • At 12:09 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a report of a disorderly male at . When the officers found the man and tried to apprehend him, he resisted arrest. Eventually, the suspect was handcuffed and arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
  • At 10:50 a.m. March 19, a complainant reported that two men had stolen an iPad on display at AT&T Wireless, 30254 Woodward Ave. The first suspect was described as 30 to 40 years old, wearing a white sweatshirt and dark jeans. The second suspect was described as 50 to 60 years old wearing dark clothing, a dark hat and glasses. The suspects left in a white vehicle.
  • At 7:50 p.m. Thursday, central business officers were checking the parking structure at 300 S. Lafayette when they saw a suspicious vehicle with four people inside. The officers approached the vehicle and ended up citing three of the four occupants for possession of open alcohol or possession of marijuana. The fourth occupant was arrested for possession of cocaine, marijuana and open intoxicants. At 5:47 p.m. Wednesday, two occupants inside a vehicle in the parking structure at 200 S. Center St. were arrested for possession of marijuana.
  • At 10:55 a.m. Wednesday, police were called to , 714 N. Main St., on a report that a shoplifting suspect was fighting with the store manager. The suspect initially resisted arrest before the officers were able to place him in handcuffs. The suspect was arrested for assault and battery and resisting arrest.
