Royal Oak Police Assist in Huntington Woods Bank Robbery Pursuit

The Chase Bank on Woodward Avenue south of 11 Mile Road is robbed Monday morning.

A suspect was wounded Monday in Pleasant Ridge after fleeing a robbery at the on Woodward Avenue in Huntington Woods.

The branch was robbed at just after 10 a.m. and the suspect fled southbound on Woodward Avenue before jumping out of his car in Pleasant Ridge.

"There was a short pursuit, and the suspect fled and was pursued on foot by Royal Oak and Huntington Woods police officers," said Royal Oak Interim Police Chief Corrigan O'Donohue.

The suspect was shot in a driveway on Oxford Boulevard in a Pleasant Ridge neighborhood, according to O'Donohue.

The man sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to in Royal Oak, O'Donohue said. No law enforcement officers were injured, he added.

A news helicopter could be seen hovering over the scene in Pleasant Ridge, where vehicles from the Huntington Woods Public Safety Department and Oakland County Sheriff's  Forensic Science Laboratory were parked at midday.

Crime scene tape blocked off the area surrounding a white car parked facing the wrong way near the curb.

"It's kind of shocking," Ferndale resident Katrina Davis said as she walked past the scene in Pleasant Ridge. "You don't really get to see much of this around this area. So, when you witness it, you're just like, 'woah.' "

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office and Royal Oak Police Department are investigating the shooting, and the Huntington Woods Public Safety Department will be investigating the armed robbery and pursuit, according to a press release from the Royal Oak Police Department.
