Royal Oak Police Warn of Vehicle Break-Ins

Other reports show guns were drawn on a resident, thefts from cars and homes continue and windows smashed. The following information was supplied by the Royal Oak Police Department.

Police reports for June 24-30:

Cadillac occupants point guns at resident

1400 block of Royal, June 28:  The complainant reported that he got into an argument while on the phone with a male acquaintance. The acquaintance showed up at the complainant’s home later in the day with three other people. As the complainant approached the car, all of people in the car pointed guns at him and then drove away. The suspect vehicle is a white Cadillac.

Chrysler vehicles robbed of GPS units

The city of Royal Oak has been experiencing multiple larcenies from vehicles recently. Specifically, many owners of Chrysler vehicles have had their windows smashed and in-dash GPS units stolen. The Police Department encourages owners of Chrysler vehicles to park their cars in a garage or well-lit area.

“Additionally, residents are encouraged to not hesitate in reporting any suspicious activity they observe on their street,” the department said in a statement. “This will assist us in the apprehension of the criminals along with tracking the crime and establishing a trend.”

2600 block of North Connecticut, June 27:  The complaint reported the driver’s side window of his 2010 Chrysler Town and Country smashed and in-dash navigation system stolen.

2500 block of North Connecticut, June 27:  The complaint reported that an unknown suspect entered his unlocked 2010 Chrysler Town and Country and stole the in-dash navigation system.  

600 block of East Fifth, June 28:  The complainant reported that an unknown suspect broke the driver side window of his 2009 Jeep Cherokee and stole the in-dash navigation system.  

1500 block of East Lincoln, June 30:  The complainant reported the driver side window of his 2009 Jeep was broken and in-dash GPS unit stolen.

Thefts from vehicles

800 block of Woodcrest, June 28:  The complainant reported someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole a pair of prescription sunglasses.

600 block of Woodcrest, June 28:  The complainant reported an unknown suspect entered his unlocked vehicle and stole his briefcase. 

Homes invaded, belongings stolen

600 block of Woodcrest, June 28:  The complainant reported someone entered her home through an unlocked door wall and stole her laptop, purse and iPod.

600 block of Williams, June 29:  The complainant reported that an unknown suspect entered her unlocked apartment and stole an undisclosed amount of money from her purse. 

Cars stolen

900 block of Knowles, June 26:  The complainant reported his white 2012 Ford stolen. The complainant had left the keys in the vehicle.

500 block of South Stephenson, June 28:  The complainant reported her teal colored 2000 Honda Civic stolen.

Items stolen

1600 block of Fairview, June 17:  The complainant the propane tank from his barbeque grill in his backyard was stolen. 

4200 block of Briarwood, June 22:  A package delivered to the porch was reported stolen. 

2000 block of Brockton, June 24:  The complainant reported someone entered his unlocked shed and stole his bronze colored 4300 Trek mountain bike.

Sixth and Main streets, June 28:  The complainant reported his red colored Redline bike was stolen.

LA Fitness, 25352 Woodward Ave., June 28: The complainant reported his clothes, wallet and car keys were stolen from an unlocked locker. 

Vehicles vandalized

5000 block of Leafdale, June 23:  The complainant reported the windshield of his pickup truck was shattered while it was parked in the lot. 

Fourth and Center streets, June 25:  Complainant reported that an unknown suspect scratched the hood and drivers side of her vehicle.  

4200 block of Rosewald, June 27:  The complainant the rear window of his vehicle was smashed out while it was parked on the street. 

Car fire

1100 block of W. Farnum, June 28:  The Royal Oak police and fire departments were dispatched to the report of a car fire. The fire was extinguished, however the vehicle had extensive damage.
