Royal Oak Resident Found Dead of Gunshot Wound at Main Street Condo

It appears the victim's handgun was accidentally discharged, say police.

Royal Oak resident was found dead this morning as the result of an accidental shooting, according to Royal Oak Police.

Officers arrived at at 11:46 a.m. to the Main Street Lofts complex at 111 North Main on a report of an injured person in the lobby, according to a police press release.

The victim, Randy Michael Bergeron, 61, was found with his legally registered handgun next to his body. Cause of death was a gunshot wound, according to Royal Oak Police.

"It looks like his handgun was accidentally discharged," said Royal Oak Police Chief Corrigan O'Donohue.
