Royal Oak Suspect May Be Tied to Suspicious Death in Franklin

Police from multiple jurisdictions are in Royal Oak assisting with a lead related to the case, officials said.

The Franklin-Bingham Farms Police Department is investigating the suspicious death of a resident that could be tied to an ongoing barricade situation in Royal Oak, authorities said.

Franklin-Bingham Farms police officers responded to 26000 block of Charles Street this morning and discovered the dead resident, whose identity is not being released this afternoon pending notification to relatives, a press release stated.

"The death is suspicious in nature and the Oakland County Sheriff's Department is assisting at the scene," the release stated.

The department asked Royal Oak police officers to assist with a possible lead in the death investigation, but no further details about the deceased, or a possible suspect were immediately available.

Detective Lt. William Castro of the Franklin-Bingham Farms Police Department is the lead investigator on the case and was available to comment today.

Police are covering all four corners of a home on Sprague Avenue where they believe a homicide suspect is hiding out inside.

With guns drawn, the SWAT team is down on one knee with eyes focused on the house.

A negotiator is audible from a block away.

Royal Oak Police Chief Corrican O'Donohue told Royal Oak Patch that a team of officers from Berkley, Madison Heights, Ferndale and Royal Oak are covering all four corners of a home on Sprague Avenue where they believe a homicide suspect is hiding out inside.

Bloomfield Township Police Capt. Scott McCanham confirmed officers assisted the investigation by following up on a lead about a possible person of interest in the township, but that the lead did not pan out.
