'Serial Bank Robber' Suspect in Custody

A man suspected of robbing banks in Royal Oak, Birmingham and Berkley was arrested Wednesday during an attempted bank robbery at TCF Bank on 12 Mile Road.

Royal Oak Police confirmed the arrest of a man on Wednesday who is suspected in a string of bank robberies in Oakland County over the past several months.

The arrest came during an attempted robbery at TCF Bank at approximately 12:41 p.m. in Royal Oak, which had been robbed twice in March 2012 by a man wearing a mask.

Royal Oak Police Chief Corrigan O'Donohue said he believes the man in custody is the "serial bank robber."
