Suspected Car Thief Arrested in Royal Oak and More

Suspected Car Thief Arrested

 

4400 block of Beverly Court, Dec. 17, 11:46 p.m.: A uniformed Beverly Hills police officer observed a suspicious vehicle in the area. He stopped the vehicle and spoke to the driver. While speaking to the driver he noticed the ignition was damaged and the driver side rear vent window was broken. The driver was unable to produce any paperwork for the vehicle and his license was suspended.

A Royal Oak officer responded to the area and spoke to the owner of the vehicle. After interviewing the owner it was determined the vehicle was just stolen. The quick actions of the Beverly Hills officer, in conjunction with Royal Oak officers, resulted in the arrest of the suspected car thief, according to police.

The suspect, Davonta Brogdon, is a 21-year-old Detroit resident. He is charged with one count of unlawfully driving away an automobile and one count of driving while license suspended.

On Dec. 19,  Brogdon was arraigned before Judge Derek Meinecke of the 44th District Court. Bond was set at $5,000. The preliminary exam is scheduled for Dec. 27 at 9 a.m.


Breaking and entering

 

4703 Crooks (Subway), Dec. 18, 12:23 a.m. – 6:50 a.m.: A man reported he noticed the rear door of the business ajar when he was preparing to open the store for the day. Further investigation revealed someone entered the store and stole an undisclosed amount of currency. There were no signs of forced entry.

 

iPhone, iPad and more stolen

 

1016 W. 11 Mile (Y.M.C.A.), Dec. 13, 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.: A man reported he placed his iPhone in an unlocked locker in the men’s locker room. When he returned, he discovered someone stole his iPhone.

5100 block of Coolidge, Dec. 11, 11:48 a.m.: A man reported his daughter set his iPad down while she put her coat on. When she went to pick up the iPad she was unable to find it and realized someone stole it.

4900 block of Crooks, Nov. 21 – Dec. 11, noon – 6:30 p.m.: A man reported he ordered CDs. When he realized the CDs had not been delivered, he contacted the business where he made the purchase. He discovered Fed Ex delivered the CDs and someone stole the package from the hallway outside of his residence.

4900 block of Crooks, Dec. 1 – Dec. 16, 8 a.m. – noon.: A woman reported she ordered a dress. When she realized the dress had not been delivered, she contacted the business where she made the purchase. She discovered UPS delivered the dress and someone stole the package from the apartment doorway.


Items taken from cars

 

25352 Woodward (L.A. Fitness), Dec. 17, 6:45 p.m. – 8 p.m.: A man reported he parked his vehicle in the parking lot of the business. When he returned to his vehicle he discovered someone broke out the rear driver side window of his vehicle and stole a Dell laptop computer.

3100 block of Trafford, Nov. 13 – Dec. 3, 7 a.m. – noon: A man reported someone stole an Extang Trifecta tonneau cover from his Nissan Titan pickup truck. The truck was parked in front of the residence.

100 block of Helene, Dec. 15 – Dec. 16, noon – 3:30 p.m.: A man reported someone stole the front wheel from his 2011 Chevy Cruze. The vehicle was parked in front of the residence.

 

Steering column damaged

 

200 N. Main (Emagine Theater), Dec. 16, 7 p.m. – 10:45 p.m.: A man reported he parked his vehicle in the parking lot. When he returned he discovered someone attempted to steal his vehicle. The steering column was damaged during the attempt.

 

Woman knocks over display case and other acts of vandalism

 

30254 Woodward (AT&T Store), Dec. 13, 9:28 p.m.: The business reported a customer was upset about her high cell phone bill and created a disturbance in the business. As she left the store she intentionally pushed over a display case damaging it.

1326 E. Lincoln, Dec. 13 – Dec. 13, 8:30 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.: A person reported someone broke out a window near the main entrance with a liquor bottle.

400 block of S. Lafayette, Dec. 13 – Dec. 16, 5 p.m. – 10 a.m.: A person reported someone wrote graffiti on the inside of a dumpster enclosure with a marker.
