Suspects in Party Store Murder Tied to Wilson’s Market ‘Takeover’ Robbery

A coordinated investigation between authorities from Royal Oak, several other communities and the ATF could close a half dozen armed robbery cases.

Four suspects already in custody for a robbery in Clinton Township where a well-liked party store owner was murdered have been implicated in the March 4 “takeover” robbery at Wilson’s Market, 901 E. 11 Mile Road.

The four –  Jomar Robinson, 25, of Clinton Township, and Clinton Rayshawn Grayson and Darius Diaz Gaskin, both 24, and Kenneth Hill, 26, of Detroit – have been tied to six other robberies in the area, Royal Oak police said in a news release.

At least four other communities – Clinton Township, Detroit, Madison Heights and Harrison Heights – reported similar robberies, police said.

The Royal Oak Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division worked with police departments in Clinton Township, Madison Heights, Detroit; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms; and the, and Macomb County Sheriff’s Office. Investigative avenues and tasks were divided among the various agencies and investigators.

The coordinated investigative efforts by all agencies resulted in the execution of six search warrants and four arrest warrants on May 9 in Wayne and Macomb counties.

“Subsequent interview and investigation of the suspects, along with evidence recovered,

leads investigators to be confident these suspects are responsible for the armed robbery at Wilson’s Market. as well as those armed robberies in the other jurisdictions, including the March 28 robbery in which Basim "Basil" Sulaka was shot and killed at his Moon Lite Party Store.

The four suspects are in custody in Clinton Township on felony murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and felony firearm charges.

At this time, the suspects will only be charged with the crimes committed in Macomb County, according to the news release.
