Vandals Target Churches, Computers Snatched at Hospital and More

Highlights from Royal Oak Police Department reports from the past week:

Home invasion

  • 300 block of E. Kenilworth, July 25: A man reported someone stole a set of Dr. Dre headphones and a Sony Play Station game system from his home.

Business broken into

  • 29500 Woodward (Orvis), July 27: The business reported someone broke in through the east entry door. Nothing was reported stolen.

Vandals target churches

  • 2203 E. 11 Mile (Calvary Temple Church), July 26: A woman reported she startled a man spray painting graffiti on the north wall of the Church. The suspect fled from the area in an older tan or gold Ford Focus driven by a white woman with the long blond hair. The suspect was described as an 18-year-old white man.  
  • 814 N. Campbell (Good Shepherd Church), July 27: The church reported someone removed four shrubs and damaged the Church sign.    

Computers snatched from offices

  • 3601 W. 13 Mile (William Beaumont Hospital), July 26: A man reported someone stole his Apple laptop computer from an office.
  • 3601 W. 13 Mile (William Beaumont Hospital), July 25: A woman reported someone stole a Dell laptop computer from her office.

Purses, wallets taken from cars

  • 13 Mile and Coolidge (Memorial Park), July 27: A man reported someone stole a purse and wallet from his unlocked vehicle.
  • 13 Mile and Coolidge (Memorial Park), July 27: A man reported someone broke into his vehicle and stole a purse. 
  • 13 Mile and Coolidge (Memorial Park), July 27: A woman reported someone broke into her vehicle and stole a purse. 
  • 1016 W. 11 Mile (Y.M.C.A.), July 27: A woman reported someone broke into her vehicle and stole her purse.

iPhones, copper plumbing taken

  • 530 S. Main (BlackFinn), July 28: A woman reported someone stole a wallet from her purse.
  • 316 E. 11 Mile (Farmers Market), July 27: A woman reported someone stole a wallet from her purse.
  • 2400 block of N. Wilson, July 25: A woman reported an acquaintance stole her iPhone.
  • 2100 block of Kalama, July 25: A man reported someone stole approximately 30 feet of copper plumbing from the vacant home.
  • 3000 block of W. 13 Mile, July 31: A woman reported she dropped her iPhone and a subject walking near her picked it up and fled the area. The suspect was described as a 30-year-old black man, thin build, 5-feet 10-inches to 6-feet tall, short dark afro. He was wearing a blue shirt with white lettering and dark blue jeans.

Acts of vandalism

  • 4100 block of Seminole, July 29: A woman reported someone damaged the paint on her vehicle.
  • 905 N. Stephenson (Royal Oak Estates), July 29: A man reported someone spray painted graffiti on a brick wall in the complex.
  • 1000 block of E. Third Street, July 27: A woman reported someone ripped out a small tree from her front yard.
  • 450 W. Fourth Street (Parking Structure), July 26: A person reported three juveniles threw rocks at a parked car and then fled the area on bicycles.
  • Delemere and Normandy, July 26: A person reported people spray painted graffiti on the wall underneath the railroad overpass.
  • 300 block of W. Houstonia, July 30: A woman reported someone keyed her vehicle.
