UPDATE: Vehicle Crashes into House in Downtown Royal Oak

No one was injured during the Saturday evening incident.

Jake Berryhill wasn’t home Saturday evening when a car crashed into the side of his downtown Royal Oak home.

“I got a call from my neighbor and I said, ‘Is my house on fire?’” Berryhill said Sunday morning, adding he was quite surprised to learn what actually happened the night before.

According to police, shortly after 6 p.m. a car driven by a senior citizen lost control as it left church and ran into the side of the home on South Lafayette. No one was injured and the cause of the incident is not known.

Berryhill lives in the top flat of the house located on the corner of Lafayette and Lincoln, directly across the street from St. Mary church.

The crash took out the gas meter and twisted gas lines into the home, Berryhill said. His home is also without water since the accident.
